Standard Ironman rules:

* Start with 8 new Hardcore Characters, only these 8 characters are allowed.
* Mo muling, no exping in other games
* No town support by NPCs: no healing, no shopping, no repairing, no NPC quest rewards (the two skill points from Tyrael are allowed to create the portal to Act 5), no mercs, no escaping through town portals
* Kill ALL monsters in ALL areas once (besides Tristram and the way down to Nihlathak, because Cain and Anya don’t get rescued)
* Raise Skeleton, Mage Skeleton and Revive are not allowed

Additional rules:

* No items allowed (no weapons, no armor, no gems, no charms) besides potions (dropped by or looted from monsters, still no shopping allowed).
* After killing Baal in hell clean all areas down to Nihlathak, Tristram and The Secret Cow Level for the sake of completeness.
* Exceptionally trade a complete key set and mule it into the game
* Killing all monsters in The Matron’s Den, The Forgotten Sands, The Furnace of Pain
* Entering Über Tristram and kill Über Mephisto, Über Baal and Pandemonium Diablo and all spawned minions

It wasn’t all easy either. They had to adjust the party composition since too many Meteors cause server crashes, and they twice had to restart (from scratch) when the fire Sorceress died along the way. Just for bonus fun, they had a game crash while battling the extraordinarily dangerous Uber Mephisto.

naked GWAMM 100% survivor, no heroes (apart those required in some missions), no pve skills, no non-primary quests, no shrine, no bonus, no cons, no armor... no pvp/competitive missions

totally insane......these people must have played 8 hrs a day since d2 launch to get the knowledge and experience necessary for that feat

i've wondered what gw would be like with a hardmode, but then losing several lvl 78-85's due to lagspikes makes me want to never go back to those days

It is certainly possible and actually easy to do.

Done something similar in GW, "pocket universe" challenge:

n-Players start in ascalon, they can play as usuall, but:
* They can only party and trade with each other, not outsiders, no merchants ...
* Dead stays dead, you are out.
* They can use henchmen and heroes, but dead stays dead. Which means that if someone manages to get i.e. alesia killed, noone playing in challenge can add her to party afterwards.
* Aborted mission or failed mission counts as death.
* Finish all campaigns with all mission bonuses. Do same on HM.

GW ironman is not that bad either:

* Roll prophecies character
* Leave presearing ASAP.
* Never enter any outpost when outside Pre. Auto-map to Ascalon is allowed when you log off, but you can not take any action that outpost allows (skillbar adjustments and att respecs, skill trainer ...)
* Reach survivor.
* Map to ascalon, turn on HM, go outside, previous rules still apply.
* Max survivor.
